While we often perform acoustically, we can provide all necessary equipment for an amplified acoustic performance, including microphones and a small sound system, for a nominal fee. We ensure that everything is set up and ready before the event.
About Us
Erik Johnson-Scherger
Erik Johnson-Scherger is a forward-looking violinist and violist, happily based in Ottawa, Ontario. As a performer, he is a genre-defying chamber-musician at home in liminal space. As a pedagogue, he believes strongly in helping his students self actualize by connecting to and developing their own musical voice, and by creating an audiation-centred framework for effortless physical execution.
Erik is grateful to have played a diverse array of venues - from art galleries and local festivals all the way to Massey Hall and the National Arts Centre - and maintains an active performing schedule as a member of Musk Ox, Side-Eye & Grace, Norteño, Phosphor String Duo, Ensemble Allure, and ELK Trio. His teaching practice includes positions at Carleton University and SuzukiMusic, in addition to a healthy private studio. When not at work, you can usually find Erik experimenting with cookie recipes, playing with his cat Tofu, running TTRPG games, and practicing historical longsword fencing.
Renée Dahn
Renée Dahn started playing the violin at the age of five and piano at the age of nine. Originally from Prince Edward Island, Renée grew up surrounded by the rich musical culture of the Maritimes. She holds a Bachelor of Music from Wilfrid Laurier University, where she studied violin and viola.
Renée believes in cultivating interest and excitement about music through positive reinforcement and personally tailored lessons, which includes helping her students establish and accomplish goals, and creating a healthy relationship with the instrument.
She has performed throughout the Maritimes and southern Ontario, including with the Prince Edward Island Symphony Orchestra. In addition to teaching, Renée is an active performer in the Ottawa area in chamber groups (such as Ensemble Allure and Phosphor String Duo) and as a session musician.
